How Do Aperture Photo Books Work?

Step 1:   Download the software

Download the free software for PC or Mac by clicking on the icon below. Save it to your hard drive. After successfully downloading the software, double-click on the file and the on-screen set-up wizard will install the program for you. An Aperture shortcut icon is placed on your desktop.

The software will come pre-loaded with all our hardback photobooks. If you decide you want any other products such as diaries or calendars, you can add them by clicking on the 'check for updates' button and ticking the products you want to download. To ensure you have the latest version of each product, you should always check for updates before starting a new project.

Step 2:   Create your Photo Book

Open your installed software and click on 'create a new project'. If you installed the software more than a couple of weeks ago, click on the 'check for updates' button and install any new product updates before beginning.

Select a product you wish to create and click 'next'. Click 'skip wizard' to maintain the most amount of control over what your book looks like.

Click on the '+' button to add photos. Either use our autofill feature on the top bar to automatically add pictures, or drag and drop images into picture boxes.

Choose your page layouts from the 'page styles' at the bottom of the page, or create your own. Your layouts can be enhanced by using drop shadows, borders and other effects from the toolbar on the right.

A number of pre-designed backgrounds have been included for you to use. You can also create your own, by making an image at the correct page size at 300dpi. Click on the backgrounds tab, then click on 'add' in the drop down menu on the right hand side.

Step 3:   Place your order

Once you have finished your design, remember to check through it by going to view > preview - we will print exactly what you see here.

Once you're happy, send the order to us online by clicking on the ORDER button (you can also click file > order...). An internet browser window will open automatically and take you to our payment gateway, where you can add lamination to each page and specify quantities and delivery information.

Once you've confirmed your order, all that's left to do is return to the software and upload your pages to us.

Your order should be with you in 5-9 business days.
